The 2011 IIHF World Championship (29.4. – 15.5.2011) Organizing Committee presented the official Championship anthem on Friday the 18th of March. The song is sung by Slovak singer Kristina. The title of the anthem is Life is a game.
“We decided to approach Kristina on the basis of a mutual agreement with our media partner Fun Radio. We believe that the song will be equally popular among Slovaks and international listeners alike.” said OC Chairman Igor Nemeček.
Martin Kavulič – Kristina’s producer - and Universal Music met the requirements in composing and modern, dynamic English anthem which also has a Slovak feel. “Being that it’s quite hard to interpret sheep’s chees in music, we chose fujaros,“ says Kavulič. Proof that Kristina was the right choice lays in the fact that hockey is her favourite game. “Although the anthem is dedicated to all hockey players, I support ours the most,” stated Kristina.
“Kristina is one of the most talented young Slovak singers at present. She’s already had one huge radio hit - Horehronie - and according to radio indicators listeners have so far reacted very positively to her music,“ explains Michaela Grendelová, 2011 IIHF World Championship Head of Communication concerning the choice of artist.
The anthem can be heard on our website as well as on the official meadia parner’s website - Fun radio. During the 2011 IIHF World Championship the song will be heard in the Bratislava and Košice arenas as well as in the fan villages.
