Danish and Latvian team representatives visited Bratislava this week and so continued the series of inspection visits from participating countries for the 2011 IIHF World Championship, Slovakia (29.4. – 15.5.2011).
“We have seen a very nice hotel and the arena. Everything looks very good. I can see that you have done a lot of work here,” stated Kim Pedersen, the Danish Hockey Union manager. “The thing we liked especially was the short travelling distance,” added project manager Jacob Sangill Christensen.
It was then the turn of the Latvian Hockey Federation reps. President Kirovs Lipmans and general secretary Maris Baldonieks: “The last time I was here was six years ago. You have made great headway. The Arena has changed beyond recognition. I believe that the details will be fine tuned in the few weeks before the championship. Otherwise we are very satisfied,” summarised Baldonieks.
There are still four more teams from the sixteen competing countries – apart from the hosts Slovakia – waiting to make their inspections. The Austrians and the Swedes are heading to Košice, and the Russian and Czech reps are set to visit Bratislava.
