No one can celebrate like hockey fans - enthusiastically, untiringly - yet always peacefully. Together with you, the hockey friends from all over the world, we want to celebrate a great party. The 2010 IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP! From May 7 till May 23, 2010! In Germany! On ice! Our motto for the party is "GERMANY ON ICE". Everybody is invited to join in!

Bets came from Canada, the US, Russia, Ukraine, and even Greece – ice hockey fans all around the world took part in an online game to speculate who would provide the sound for the 2010 IIHF World Championship. The longer they speculated, the more the rumors pointed toward a German band that has made quite a splash in recent years all over the world – SCOOTER. The German national team will meet Team USA in a world record encounter on May 7, 2010 in front of 76,000 spectators. The game is practically sold out. Some more tickets are available within combined packages and hospitality offers. Currently, the Organizing Committee is checking options for further enhancing the stadium capacity with some few hundred additional seats. Furher information soon.

At the start of a big ice hockey year for Germany, a public action day around ice hockey took place on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 on the skating rink of the former coking plant "Zollverein" in the city of Essen. "On Ice" in front of a remarkable crowd were German Headcoach Uwe Krupp, Assistant Coach Ernst Höfner, several National Team Players and World Championship Mascot "Urmel". Actions included a public practice with kids of local club "Moskitos Essen", an autograph session and trials for the public.
