Officials named for medal games

Frano & Kaval hold the golden whistles

BUFFALO – The IIHF has assigned the officials for the medal games Wednesday. For the bronze medal game, 3:30pm at HSBC Arena, the two referees are Georgij Jablukov (GER) and Matt Kirk (CAN). Jablukov worked as a linesman at the 2006 U20 and as a referee at the 2009 U18. This is Kirk’s first top-level event. The linesmen will be Mikko Kekalainen (FIN) and Jesse Wilmot (CAN). Sweden is the home team and will wear yellow, while the United States will wear its blue sweaters. The gold medal game, set for 7:30pm, will see Canada as the home team wearing red and the Russians wearing white. Referees are Martin Frano (CZE) and Keith Kaval (USA). Frano has reffed at the 2009 and 2010 U18, including the bronze medal game last year, while Kaval worked the 2009 U18 and the 2010 U20, including the bronze game in each event. The linesmen will be Jonathan Morrison (USA) and Felix Winnekens (GER).
