CALGARY – Mika Zibanejad scored the magnificent overtime winner as Sweden earned its first World Junior gold medal since 1981 and second all-time with an 1-0 triumph over Russia on Thursday. The Swedes outshot Russia 58-17.

STOCKHOLM – The IIHF World Junior champions received true royal treatment when they returned home after Sweden’s first U20 gold medal in 31 years. Coach Roger Rönnberg and his players were received by Crown Princess Victoria and 6,000 fans in downtown Stockholm on Saturday.

ZURICH – Mika Zibanejad’s shot in overtime ended a 31-year drought for Sweden at the IIHF World Junior Championship. What it means will be seen today, with a warm welcome awaiting the team’s return back in Stockholm.

CALGARY – With the conclusion of this year’s World Juniors, the IIHF has announced the groups for the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship in Ufa, Russia.
Talking World Juniors success, concussions and more
CALGARY – The IIHF’s René Fasel and Murray Costello, and Hockey Canada’s Bob Nicholson, addressed the media about a variety of topics ranging from the success of the 2012 World Juniors to creating a new committee on player safety and overcoming the concussion issues.
Strong finish to 2012 U20 with 4-0 win over Finland
CALGARY – Quinton Howden scored twice and Tanner Pearson and Mark Scheifele combined for a pair of goals to lead Canada to a 4-0 win over Finland to claim the bronze medal in Calgary.
