Over 330,000 tickets for the 2010 IIHF World Championship are already gone. Request from participating countries beyond Germany has now set in strongly for both Cologne and Mannheim. Single game ticket prices start at € 9 for a game of the relegation round, € 19 for a game in the preliminary round and prices for the gold final range between € 84 and € 164. Some few tickets for games of Team Germany in Cologne have returnd to be available. The Gold Final is expected to sell-out soon too, so hurry up!

At the start of a big ice hockey year for Germany, a public action day around ice hockey took place on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 on the skating rink of the former coking plant "Zollverein" in the city of Essen. "On Ice" in front of a remarkable crowd were German Headcoach Uwe Krupp, Assistant Coach Ernst Höfner, several National Team Players and World Championship Mascot "Urmel". Actions included a public practice with kids of local club "Moskitos Essen", an autograph session and trials for the public.

The 1,500 additional tickets for the opening game of the 2010 IIHF World Championship between the Olympic silver medal winner USA and Germany, which were put on sale recently, were gone within hours. It seems that the game could have easily been sold twice, but only very few seats within some remaining hospitality packages are left now for the spectacular world record game in front of 76,152 spectators.
