Former German national team player Michael Bakos announced the end of his playing career. The 35-year-old defenceman played 100 games for the men’s national team.

Bakos represented Germany in five IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships (four in the top division) and in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.

In Germany the Augsburg native played 731 DEL games and won the league title with Adler Mannheim in 2001.

Bakos ends his career with his hometown team Augsburger Panther where the injury-plagued defenceman was only able to play seven games in the past season.
