ZURICH – The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation has announced that last season’s U20 national team coach Manuele Celio will coach the U18 national team next year. A new U20 coach will be sought in the meantime.

Celio will also be one of Sean Simpson’s assistant coaches in the men’s national team. He was the Swiss head coach in two IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championships (2010, 2011) and was coaching the U20 national team in the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship in Canada.

Markus Studer, coach of third-tier team EHC Winterthur, and former Toronto Maple Leafs first-round pick Luca Cereda, who coaches the juniors of HC Ambrì-Piotta, were named Celio’s assistant coaches in the U18 national team.

An U20 national team coach is being searched. For the camps in the upcoming weeks in Arosa and Füssen, Germany, the team will be led by Simpson, head coach of the men’s national team.

Ari Sulander, long-time goalie of the Finnish national team and of Swiss club ZSC Lions Zurich, will come to Switzerland as a guest coach at the summer camps of the U20, U18, U17 and U16 national teams.
