ZURICH – The 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship tickets have been released for matches in Stockholm. The tickets for the games in Helsinki will be released on October 15.

This year the semi-finals, bronze medal game, and the gold medal final will all be played in Stockholm’s Globe Arena.

 “Our ambition is to create a great experience for this Championship. We will therefore do our outmost to make this to a proper tournament for the audience, and to crowd the stands inside the Globe is vital. A key ingredient for this to succeed is of course having the right prices,” said Tony Wiréhn, Secretary-General of the Swedish World Championship organization.

Below are some highlights of the tickets procedure for Stockholm in 2013:

• Fans will receive a 50 percent discount on the lowest category ticket if they buy tickets to more than one game being played on the same day.

• Youth tickets: For children up to 16 years. These tickets are for the Category 3 section and are valid during the preliminary round games and the quarter-final games in Stockholm. The cost for the youth tickets is between 9 and 28.50 Euros depending on the game.

• Family Games: A family with two adults and two children will be able to watch Sweden play in a preliminary round game for less than 114 Euros. Sweden against Slovenia, one of three games being promoted as a “Family Game”, will cost approximately 90 Euros (22.50 Euros each) for an entire family, regardless of seat location in the arena.

• For the other two “Family Games” (Czech Republic-Belarus, Norway-Slovenia) the tickets will costs 9 Euros each regardless of seat location.

Prince Daniel to serve as patron of 2013 World Championship

The 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship just got a touch of royal class. H.R.H. Prince Daniel, the husband of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, will be a patron of the 2013 tournament. The Prince, a well-known sports and hockey enthusiast, will attend some of the games at the Globe Arena.

Prince Daniel has been among big supporter of Tre Kronor. Earlier this year, he and the Crown Princess welcomed the returning U20 men’s world champions with a reception in Stockholm. He also attended both the Olympics and the Paralympics this year in London. 

In May 2012, the IIHF World Championship will be held in Stockholm and Helsinki. Prince Daniel, who already attended a few games during the 2012 World Championship, is happy to see that hockey is coming to Stockholm for a second time around.

“It is an incredible intense and a fast sport. To succeed as an ice hockey player it requires that you have a huge comprehension of the play, you cannot relax for a second on the ice because it will get back at you, either physically or letting the opposing team score a goal,” said the prince. “Thus hockey is great fun to watch, because the momentum can quickly turn around.”
