ZURICH – The Japan Ice Hockey Federation has withdrawn its team from participating in the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division I Group B in Megeve, France.

The round-robin tournament that starts on Saturday will now be played with five teams – Slovenia, Ukraine, Poland, France and Great Britain. The new schedule is available on the tournament page.

The winner will be promoted to the Division I Group A while none of the five teams will be relegated.

Japan will be relegated to the Division II Group A for next season in accordance with the IIHF Bylaw 610 and 803.
