LINKÖPING, Sweden – With Daniel Fernholm injured and Ivan Majesky still outside the country for tax reasons, Linköpings HC decided to sign 39-year-old Petri Liimatainen to fix the holes in the team’s defence prior to the first Champions Hockey League roster freeze. The Swede has most recently played with Füchse Duisburg in Germany where he scored 26 points in 54 games.
“It’s really inspiring to get a chance to represent one of the best teams in Sweden,” says Liimatainen.
“Petri is an experienced player who understands his role. We’re very pleased with the solution,” says Johan Hemlin, Linköping’s sporting director.
