Europe’s best clubs play in the EWCC this weekend.

SKIF Moscow Region will play in the Czech Republic for a spot in the final tournament of the European Women's Champions Cup.

ZURICH – Before the CHL the semi-finals next week, European’s best women’s club teams will play in the semi-final tournaments of the European Women’s Champions Cup this weekend.

Group E in Kralupy nad Vltavou, 25 kilometres north of Prague, includes two clubs that are also featured in the CHL, with host Slavia Prague and Finnish champion Espoo Blues taking part. The other teams are Aisulu Almaty from Kazakhstan and Danish champions Herlev Hornets.

Group F is hosted by Swedish champion Segeltorps IF. The others teams playing in Segeltorp are Swiss champion DHC Langenthal and the two qualifiers ESC Planegg-Würmtal from Germany and SKIF Moscow Region from Russia.

The single-round-robin tournaments will be played December 5-7 and the two top teams from each group advance to the final tournament, which will take place January 30 to February 1, 2009. No team is automatically qualified for the final tournament and the venue is to be determined.

Schedule for Continental Cup in Rouen announced

The IIHF announced the schedule of the 2009 Continental Cup Super Final in Rouen, France, January 16-18.

The Continental Cup is the men’s club competition for teams that were not qualified for the Champions Hockey League. The teams already seeded to the Super Final are host Rouen Dragons and Slovakia’s third-best team MHC Martin. They will face the two qualifiers, Belarusian champion Keramin Minsk and Italian champion Bolzano Foxes.
