Golden coach of Canadian U18s goes to Hamilton

HAMILTON, Canada – The Montreal Canadians and its AHL affiliate, Hamilton, named Guy Boucher the new head coach.

Boucher coached the QMJHL’s Drummondville Voltigeurs the last three seasons, leading the team to the championship and a berth in the Memorial Cup.

During his time in the QMJHL, Boucher also worked for Hockey Canada on several occasions. He was the head coach of the Canadian team at the 2006 and 2008 IIHF World U18 Championship, leading Canada to its first gold in five years at the 2008 event.

The 37-year-old was also an assistant coach at the 2009 IIHF World U20 Championship when Canada won the event for the fifth consecutive time.
