KYIV – Anatoli Brezvin was re-elected as President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine during the federation’s General Congress last Friday.
Brezvin has been leading the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine since December 2006. He has overseen the organisation of numerous IIHF World Championships in the country, with three more slated to take place in 2013.
During his tenure ice hockey in Ukraine has taken further steps forward thanks to help from government programs such as "Hockey of Ukraine”, which has initiated the building of seven modern sports facilities and renovations of two major indoor arenas. More ice hockey venues are scheduled to be built in the near future.
“The program has proven its effectiveness in practice. Of course, we did not expect the immediate result, however, the foundation laid will yield fruit in the near future," said Brezvin. "Ukraine also conducts championships at a very high organizational level and this is reflected in the confidence shown in us by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Holding tournaments at the highest international level is the best promotion for ice hockey in our country.”
