Coolen, Cipruss join Latvian national team staff

RIGA – The Latvian Ice Hockey Federation (LHF) announced that fellow Canadian Tom Coolen and former Latvian national team player Aigars Cipruss will be Ted Nolan’s assistant coaches on the Latvian national team staff.

Coolen joins Nolan with 30 years of coaching experience. He was coaching various junior, college and minor league teams in North America and Europe.

Cipruss was a professional player for 17 years and played his last IIHF World Championship in 2009. He has worked as an assistant coach with the U20 national team during the past two years.

Latvia will play two exhibition games against Russia’s B national team on 9/10 November at Arena Riga.

Russia B will also play an exhibition game against France on 6 November in Mytishi, Russia, while Russia’s top men’s national team will play in the Karjala Tournament in Helsinki, Finland, against the Czech Republic, Finland and Sweden.
