HELSINKI – The Finnish Ice Hockey Association named 54 candidates for the men’s national team in view of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi at a press conference on Tuesday.

Eight goalkeepers, 16 defenceman and 30 forwards were identified as candidates for the Olympics and met with the management and head coach Erkka Westerlund. He also informed that the door is still open for other players at this stage.

Finland will play several exhibition games before the 2014 Olympic men’s ice hockey tournament where Westerlund’s squad will face Canada, Norway and Austria.

Finland will also be present in Sochi with a women’s national team that will compete in the top group with Canada, the United States and Switzerland.
