BERNE – Former Swiss national team forward Roland Dellsperger died on Wednesday night at age 65 due to a heart attack.

Dellsperger was one of the best Swiss forwards in the ‘70s and played in three B-Pool World Championships for Switzerland.

He spent 18 years with SC Bern in the National League A and led the team to five national championships. His retired jersey hangs on the roof of the PostFinance Arena, famous for setting European attendance records and hosting a number of World Championships, most recently in 2009.

Following his playing career Dellsperger worked for the club, most recently during its last home game on Sunday.
