Cyr passed away

Paul Cyr, a member of Canada's gold-medal winning U20 team in 1982, passed away on May 19, 2012, in Nakusp, British Columbia. The 48-year-old died of heart failure.

That 1982 team was the first to win gold for Canada at the U20 World Championship under Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence.

Cyr went on to play 470 NHL games with three teams: the Buffalo Sabres, the New York Rangers and the Hartford Whalers.
