LUCERNE, Switzerland – The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation elected Marc Furrer as its new President for a three-year term on Tuesday. He succeeds Philippe Gaydoul.
Gaydoul resigned from his position to avoid a conflict of interest following his takeover of the Kloten Flyers.
Furrer has been the chairman of the high-performance committee of the organization which oversees the national teams and the top-two leagues, NLA and NLB and their equivalent under-20 leagues.
In his former position he will be replaced by Pius-David Kuonen, who has already been a member of the board. The other board members are Jean-Marie Viaccoz, Peter Althaus and Erwin Füllemann.
Furrer joined the Swiss hockey leadership in 2006, then as President of the National League. Before that he chaired the Swiss Rowing Association.
Outside of hockey he holds positions as President of the Swiss Federal Communications Commission and as Director of the Postal Regulation Authority.
