IIHF Camp Information 2008 IIHF Hockey Development CampLocation: Sport Institute of Finland in Vierumaki, Finland Dates: 10-17 August 2008

While the IIHF Development Camp formula is well established, this season will only be the second time the model will be expanded to include the women's game.
Thirty-seven National Associations, 5 continents and more than 250 participants will join forces in Vierumäki, Finland, for a weeklong camp. While there will be plenty of action on the ice, a good portion of the development will take place off the ice. In attendance will be female players, game officials, coaches, team managers, equipment managers, result managers and for the first time, the IIHF will also be operating a 5-day long program for the leaders of the female game in it’s member National Associations.
The camp is open to female players born from 1990 to 1992 selected by participating member National Associations. Coaches, team managers, equipment managers, result managers and game officials for the camp will be selected from received applications submitted by National Associations.
All participants will be actively involved in the theoretical and practical sessions. There will be daily meetings, seminars and planning sessions for each of the groups, as well as ‘hands on’ participation. The entire program is designed as a comprehensive teaching/learning experience for all participants.
Once participants return to their home country, they are expected to initiate, operate or assist the development of women’s hockey within their own National Association. The Development Camp Program has proven to be an excellent method to educate and motivate our members to grow our sport within their boundaries.
