Showdown with Sweden awaits on Sunday

STOCKHOLM – They did it. In a semi-final game featuring two teams challenging history, Switzerland defeated Team USA 3-0 to advance forward to their first opportunity for gold since 1935.

STOCKHOLM – Sweden advanced to Sunday’s gold medal game with a 3-0 semi-final win over Nordic archrival Finland. The top line clicked nicely as Loui Eriksson scored twice on the power play, with the Sedin brothers assisting on both goals.

Swedish defenceman suspended for the remainder of Worlds

STOCKHOLM – The IIHF Independent Disciplinary Panel has suspended Swedish defenceman Alexander Edler for a knee-on-knee hit against Canadian forward Eric Staal. Edler will miss the remainder of the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.
