BERLIN – Eisbären Berlin centre Matt McIlvane suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in the 4-2 road win against the Kassel Huskies on Sunday and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season. His left knee was injured after being crashed into the boards.

The 23-year-old American scored a goal and three assists in 14 DEL games and played all three Champions Hockey League games of the German champion, having an assist and a +1 rating.

As a replacement, Eisbären Berlin recalled Norman Martens from their junior team that plays in the third-tier league. The 22-year-old is in the 40-man CHL roster and therefore eligible to play in the Champions Hockey League.
