VANCOUVER The 2010 Winter Olympics women's hockey all-stars and Most Valuable Player were announced at the conclusion of Canada's 2-0 win over the United States in the gold medal game at Canada Hockey Place.
Forward Meghan Agosta was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player as voted by journalists. Agosta was the top scorer of the tournament with 15 points (9+6). Agosta, tied with Switzerland's Stefanie Marty, also set a new tournament record with nine goals.
Agosta was also named best forward by the tournament directorate.
The all-star team was comprised equally of three Canadians and three Americans.
The women's ice hockey tournament of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games was the probably most successful women's hockey event ever. Totally 162,419 fans watched the 20 games in both arenas with an average of 8,121 fans (Canada Hockey Place: 16,409 spectators; UBC Thunderbird Arena: 5,358 spectators).
