Ukraine - Slovenia 1-6 (0-4, 0-1, 1-1)

VOJENS – Slovenia’s party continued to the last day in Group F. With the qualification to Sochi already secured, they didn’t waste any time disposing of Ukraine.

After wins against Belarus (4-2) and Denmark (2-1), Slovenia qualified for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi already on Friday. Although the Sunday games had to be played, the Slovenes made sure to end any discussions early here as well.

Robert Sabolic scored twice and Friday’s hero David Rodman added one as Slovenia jumped to a 3-0 lead before the five minute mark. Ukrainian coach Olexander Kulikov called for a goaltending change, pulling Vadym Seliverstov, who made his first appearance in Vojens, but this ended at 4:49 when Sabolic got his second.

Yevgen Napnenko, who had been beaten eight times in the Ukraine’s losses to Denmark (2-0) and Belarus (6-0), was in no position to change the fortunes.

Rok Ticar made it 4-0 in the 10th minute and Jan Urbas padded the lead to 5-0 midway through the game. It was obvious from the outset that Ukraine simply couldn’t muster the energy to make a game out of this.

Ukraine were at least given an opportunity to score their first goal of the tournament when Dmytro Nimenko was awarded a penalty shot with 31 seconds left of the second period, but Slovenia’s backup keeper Luka Gracnar showed no generosity.

Artem Gnidenko finally got the first goal for Ukraine in the tournament at 7:35 of the third period. Ziga Jeglic confirmed Slovenia's superiority with the 6-1 marker.

Denmark - Belarus 2-3 (0-0, 2-2, 0-1)

VOJENS – In the later game, a third period goal from Andrei Stepanov broke a 2-2 deadlock and gave Belarus a small consolation win after missing out on a trip to the Olympics.

Alexander Kitarov opened the scoring for Belarus in the second period. His goal was answered by Danish forward Morten Poulsen. Mikhail Stepanovich for Belarus adn Julian Jakobsen of Denmark replied with scores of their own before Stepanov's marker early in the third period on a power play with an assist coming from Pavel Chernaok won the game for the Belarusians.

The victory came as small comfort to a team that had high hopes of qualifying for the Sochi Olympics in 2014, coming into the Group F qualification as the second highest-ranked team and the tournament favourites beside hosts Denmark.
