Over $22 million from World Juniors into grassroots programs

CALGARY – Grassroots hockey in Canada and the world will benefit with funding worth over $22 million from the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship hosted in Calgary and Edmonton last winter. The total economic impact is estimated at $86.2 million.

Cyr passed away

Won U20 gold, played 470 NHL games

Paul Cyr, a member of Canada's gold-medal winning U20 team in 1982, passed away on May 19, 2012, in Nakusp, British Columbia. The 48-year-old died of heart failure.

ZURICH – While the IIHF World Ranking positions were known before the medal day in Helsinki, the final results with points were calculated only after the conclusion of the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. And Russia is on top for the fourth time since 2009.
