ASTANA – The Kazakhstan Ice Hockey Federation released its national coach Andrei Shayanov at a meeting of the executive committee on Monday.

The members of the committee decided to release the coach due to “unsatisfactory results and performances” at the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Helsinki and Stockholm where Kazakhstan lost all games in the preliminary round and was thus relegated.

The committee also accepted the resignation of the team’s General Manager, Nurlan Orazbayev.

Shayanov was coaching the team in 2009 and 2010, and was appointed head coach again for 2012 after a one-year stint of Andrei Khomutov. The new coach of the Kazakh national team is not known yet.

Kazakhstan will play for promotion next year at the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A in Budapest along with host Hungary, Italy, Japan, Great Britain and Korea.
