USA Hockey announced to add forward Luke Kunin from the NHL’s Minnesota Wild to the roster of the U.S. men’s national team competing at the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.

Kunin spilt the last two seasons between the NHL and AHL. He started with the Iowa Wild but was recalled by the Minnesota Wild in December and has spent most of his time in the National Hockey League after that. In 49 NHL games he recorded 6 goals and 17 points. He also played 28 AHL games (12 goals, 20 points) in the regular season and 11 playoff games with six goals and eight points.

The 21-year-old has played in two previous IIHF events captaining the United States to gold in both the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship and the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Team USA currently has spots open for a third goaltender and two skaters. The latter two will be used to register previously announced Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman Zach Werenski and Kunin.
