Riha continues as Czech coach

Milos Riha will coach the Czech national team for the second straight season.

The executive committee of the Czech Ice Hockey Association has confirmed the coaches for the national team program for the 2019/2020 season.

Milos Riha will continue to be the head coach of the men’s national team after the fourth-place finish at the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Slovakia - the first time in four years the Czechs had reached the semi-finals. Riha joined the team one year ago after having coached KHL teams for most of the last 10 years.

Karel Mlejnek and Robert Reichel will continue as assistant coaches while the head coach’s son, Milos Riha Jr, will join the coaching staff. Riha Jr is currently the head coach of second-tier team Slavia Prague. Petr Nedved remains as General Manager.

As of the 2020/2021 season the Czech Ice Hockey Association plans to replace Milos Riha as head coach of the Czech men’s national team with Filip Pesan.
