Starting 3rd December, it will be possible to buy day packages for playoff games. Until now fans were able to buy tickets for playoff games only in one package.

Right from the start the demand for tickets has been spectacular. The most popular teams have been host nation Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The “Follow Your Team” packages are sold out. This package includes all preliminary-round games for one specific team. Event passes and group packages are also sold out in both Bratislava and Kosice. Day packages are available and have proved to be the most popular type of tickets. Starting today, day packages for playoff games will also be available.

“We are happy about the huge interest in the tournament and fans have been buying tickets at an incredible rate,” said Slovak Ice Hockey Federation President, Martin Kohut. “We have just started the sale of day packages for the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and medal games, in which it is all or nothing. These games will surely be a great hockey experience for everyone who finds their way to the ice hockey rink. Again, we advise fans not to wait until February when we will start the sale of single-game tickets, but to buy them as soon as possible. A ticket for the hockey event of the year can be a perfect Christmas gift for a hockey fan.”

Tickets have been released for sale gradually. Only tickets labelled as “sold out“ will not be on sale anymore. “We advise fans to keep an eye on the 2019.iihfworlds.com website where they can buy the tickets for the championship. We are trying to satisfy as many fans as we possibly can,” added Kohut.

Playoff games will be held in both Bratislava and Kosice. Kosice in the east of Slovakia will hold two quarter-finals matches, as will Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. “We obviously do not know who will be in the quarter-finals, but we do know that in the event that one of those teams is Slovakia, that game will be held on 23 May at 20:15 in Bratislava,” said the Bratislava Organization Committee President, Roman Stambersky. The semi-finals, bronze medal game and gold medal game will all be held in Bratislava.

The price of the day package for the quarter-finals is €125 (2nd category) or €180 (1st category). For the semi-final day package it is €290 or €360, and the day package for the bronze medal game and the gold-medal game costs €400 or €475.

Prices for other tickets that are currently on sale remain unchanged. Day packages for preliminary-round games in Bratislava cost from €45 to €115 (2nd category) or from €70 to €155 (1st category). Prices of preliminary-round day packages in Kosice vary from €45 to €135 (2nd category) or from €60 to €175 (1st category).

The formalities of the ticket sale remains unchanged. Fans who want to buy tickets for either city must fill in the registration form on the official seller website. They need to fill in their name, surname, e-mail address, and mobile phone number to which they will receive a verification code in a text message. Only after the verification is it possible to buy tickets. This step was established as a preventive measure against resellers.

The measures in place for the Ticketportal stores are still in place as well. Tickets can be bought or booked only online on 2019.iihfworlds.com. “The customer has two options. The first is to buy so-called home tickets – tickets that can be printed at home after purchase. The second option is to generate an online booking code. In this case fans can buy the so-called hard ticket in one of the Ticketportal stores,” Kohut explained.

The last stage of the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship ticket sale will start in February 2019 when single-game tickets will be released for games not already sold out.
