The second stage of the ticket sale for the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey World Junior Championship will begin on Monday, 16 September 16 at 11:00 am local time (CET). This prestigious event will take place from 26 December 2019 to 5 Janu-ary 2020 in Ostrava and Trinec in the Czech Republic.

Ticket prices for the World Junior Championship start at 90 CZK (approx. €3.50). Tickets for the Czech team in the group stage cost 290 CZK (approx. €11.20). The final of the World Junior Championship will be available for 450 CZK. In the first stage of the sale, which began in March, almost 60 per cent of available tickets have been sold.

Hockey fans did not hesitate – tickets to games involving the Czech and Slovak teams quickly sold out. There was also a lot of interest in the opening stage of the sale for games involving Canada, Russia and the United States in Ostrava, as well as the strong Nordic teams from Sweden and defending champion Finland, whose group stage games will be played in Trinec.

As part of the preparations for the event, the organizing committee will release additional tickets for sale – tickets for all games, including Czech and Slovak group stage games, will be available from 16 September. “The fans' interest in tickets for the IIHF World Junior Championship surprised us pleasantly – it is proof that Czech fans are aware that this important event at the turn of the year is in the Czech Republic,” said Marketa Sterbova, general secretary of the organizing committee. “At the same time, we are glad that the pricing policy has been positively received by fans.”

Ostravar Arena in Ostrava and Werk Arena in Trinec will host the tournament, which will present the 10 best teams in the world of players under 20 years of age. Ticket prices are the same for both venues in Ostrava and Trinec.

Given the unobstructed views from all seats in both host arenas, there is one price level for tickets of each game. Tickets for group stage games are in three price categories according to the attractiveness of the games – 290 CZK (approx. €11.20), 240 CZK (approx. €9.30) and 140 CZK (approx. €5.40). The ticket price for all group stage games involving the host Czech team – Thursday 26 December against Russia, Saturday 28 December against Germany, Monday 30 December against the USA and 31 December against Canada – is set at 290 CZK (approx. €11.20).

For the same amount of CZK 290 (approx. €11.20), fans can also watch all quarter-final games which will take place in both cities: two in Ostrava and two in Trinec. The final part of the tournament will take place in Ostrava – the semi-finals and medal games will be played in Ostravar Arena.

Tickets for semi-final games will be available for 290 CZK (approx. €11.20), the bronze game for CZK 350 (approx. €13.50) and the championship final game for 450 CZK (approx. €17.40). Tickets for relegation games at Ostravar Arena will be sold for 90 CZK (approx. €3.50).

The available capacity of Ostravar Arena in Ostrava is 7,800 seats, for the Werk Arena in Trinec 4,200 seats. In both arenas, the capacity has been reduced by approximately 25 per cent due to blockages for the IIHF, teams, media and technical blocks. “We still have to hold some of the technical blockages for media and television. By the beginning of the championship, however, we will release the maximum number of tickets for sale,” Sterbova added.

Tickets to the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship are sold in cooperation with Deep Vision. Tickets can be purchased online at the official tournament website 2020.worldjuniors.hockey, or in person at Sazka outlets in the Czech Republic.

The IIHF World Junior Championship was held in the Czech Republic on three previous occasions and returns now after 12 years. The city of Ostrava will welcome the IIHF World Junior Championship for the second time, while Trinec will host for the first time.
