At the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, a ticket purchase rights draw was held for the first time. The draw proved to be very popular, with more than 1,600,000 tickets applied for the games through the draw. All games played in Tampere are fully booked. Tickets for the games played in Helsinki and a limited number of VIP packages are still available.

Participation in the ticket purchase rights draw for the games played in Tampere has ended on 26 September. The draw created great interest, in total more than 1.6 million tickets were applied for through the draw. This means that, unfortunately, not all participants in the draw will be able to be offered either their desired or even alternative game tickets.

There has been a high demand especially for Finnish national team games, more than 200,000 tickets have been requested for the most interesting game days. Other than Finland, most other games have also been in high demand.

“All games played in Tampere have been fully booked through the draw. However, those who participated in the draw are not obliged to claim their tickets, so a small number of tickets may still go on sale,” says Heikki Hietanen, General Secretary of the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.

The winners of the ticket draw will be informed on 29 September. They can claim their tickets from 30 September to 15 October. Participants who haven’t won in the draw at all or who have been offered alternative tickets will receive an opportunity to purchase unclaimed day tickets from 16 to 20 October 2021. All participants in the draw will be offered an opportunity to purchase day tickets from 21 to 25 October 2021, if there are still tickets left. If there are remaining day tickets, they will go on sale on 27 October 2021.

"When the arena structures and the international quotas are confirmed, it is possible that a small number of tickets will be released for sale next year. We will inform about this opportunity separately," says Heikki Hietanen.

Hietanen reminds that day tickets for the games played in Helsinki are also available at the moment.

“You can watch top hockey also in Helsinki, even if you can't go to watch games at the Tampere Deck Arena due to high demand. E.g. Canada, ROC and Germany will play in Helsinki, which means that tough games are also promised at the Helsinki Arena,” says Hietanen.

A limited number of VIP packages are also available for Tampere.

This is how the draw proceeds:

The draw has now been conducted. On 29 September the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Organizing Committee will contact the winners of the draw by e-mail with more detailed information on how to claim the tickets. If a participant doesn’t win tickets for the desired game day, they may be offered another game day or price category. The organizing committee will contact by e-mail those who will be offered alternative day tickets.

It should be noted that at this stage, messages will only be sent to those participants who have won or are offered alternative tickets. Tickets can be claimed from 30 September to 15 October.

Participants who haven’t won in the draw at all or who have been offered alternative tickets will have an opportunity to purchase day tickets from 16 to 20 October 2021. A separate message will be sent to participants.

All participants in the draw will be offered an opportunity to purchase day tickets from 21 to 25 October 2021, if there are still tickets left. A separate message will be sent to all participants.

If there are still day tickets left, they will go on sale on 27 October 2021.
