T.J. Tynan has been the AHL’s MVP for two years in a row.

USA Hockey announced that forward T.J. Tynan of the AHL’s Ontario Reign will be added to the roster of U.S. men’s national team currently in Tampere for the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.
Tynan was recently named Les Cunningham Award winner as Most Valuable Player of the American Hockey League becoming the fifth player in league history to earn back-to-back MVP honours. The native of Orland Park, Illinois had 14 goals and 84 assists in 62 AHL games. His 84 assists tied for third-most in a season in AHL history.
The 30-year-old, 173 cm / 5'8" centre represented the United States once before at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship. He played professional hockey during the past eight seasons in North America including 21 NHL games (1 assists) for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings but spent most of his career in the AHL winning the Calder Cup in 2016 with the Lake Erie Monsters.
This season he spent in California within the Los Angeles Kings organization where he appeared in two NHL games but spent most of the season with the AHL affiliate Ontario Reign.
The United States currently have two goalkeepers, six defenders and 12 forward on the tournament roster with openings to register one goalkeeper and four more skaters. Players not yet registered beside Tynan include goalkeeper Jeremy Swayman (Boston), defenders Jordan Harris (Montreal) and Jon Merrill (Minnesota), and forwards Matt Boldy (Minnesota) and Ryan Hartman (Minnesota).
