With the end of the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship in Canada the groups of the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship in the Czech Republic have become known.

The groups are based on the final ranking of 2019 as by the IIHF Sport Regulations to allow two balanced groups according to the teams’ performances at the 2019 World Juniors.

Host Czech Republic will play its games at the Ostravar Arena in Ostrava and meet silver medallist USA, bronze medallist Russia, Canada as well as newly promoted Germany.

The other group at Werk Arena in Trinec includes defending champion Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovakia and Kazakhstan. That’s also good news for Slovak fans as Trinec is just 10 kilometres away from the Czech-Slovak border.

The 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship in the two cities in the eastern Moravian-Silesian Region will be played from 26 December 2019 to 5 January 2020.

The game schedule has not yet been established. The first stage of the ticket sale is expected to start in spring.
