Recent Olympic bronze medallist Finland continues with Pasi Mustonen as head coach. The contract was extended until spring 2022.

Mustonen became the Finnish women’s national team head coach for the 2014/2015 season. He will lead the team at the upcoming IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championships including the 2019 edition 4-14 April on home ice in Espoo and at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, China.

“It is great that the employer shows confidence and that I can continue this great team’s journey to the end of the second Olympic cycle,” Mustonen said. “The big thing here is continuity. Everyone knows how we work. In the long run, a common operating culture will definitely bring success.”

Mustonen will spent most of his time as head coach of the women’s national team and after the Women’s Worlds he will use 20 per cent to work as a lecturer at the HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences in Vierumaki.

Under Mustonen Finland has finished in the top-four of the world each year including bronze medals at the 2015 and 2017 Women’s Worlds and the 2018 Olympics.
