ROC forward Yulia Smirnova was ruled out from the 2021 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship by the team due to injury.

The 23-year-old forward of Dynamo-Neva St. Petersburg was supposed to play her first Women’s Worlds in Calgary but broke a finger when she blocked a shot in the exhibition game against the United States.

ROC will open the tournament today against Switzerland.
