Swedish player Elias Salomonsson has been issued a one-game suspension by the ad-hoc Disciplinary Panel at the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship.

Salomonsson was assessed a match penalty for checking from behind at 1:07 of the third period in Sweden’s quarter-final game against Germany.

The panel determined that the player recklessly endangered his opponent by checking him from behind into the boards while there was no necessity to get involved in the action as third man in and had time to make a different play.

Salomonsson will be suspended for today’s semi-final game against Finland.
