All four quarter-finals at the 2023 Women’s Worlds were hard-fought affairs, and things are mighty tight as well in our third Power Rankings. With Aerin Frankel recording an 18-save shutout in a 3-0 win over Germany, the U.S. slides ahead of Canada into first place. The host nation falls to second after edging Sweden 3-2 in overtime on Sarah Nurse’s second goal of the night – it was the first Women’s Worlds game where the Swedes have scored on Canada since 2004. And courtesy of Katerina Mrazova’s two-point outing, Czechia reclaims third place by dashing Finland’s medal hopes for the second straight year with a 2-1 win. Bring on the semi-finals excitement in Brampton!
