Ticket sales will start in autumn

The 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship tickets will go on sale in October.
As in the past, only daily ticket packages for two or three games on the particular game day in Prague or Ostrava will be available from the beginning. "We are currently working intensively on the final pricing policy, but it is already possible to say that the daily packages of the first category will range from 2,000 to 5,000 CZK (approx. 85 to 215 EUR) and the second from 1,500 to 4,500 CZK (approx. 65 to 190 EUR). The first category corresponds to the 1st floor of the Prague Arena and all sectors of the Ostrava Arena except for the corners A1, A5, B1 and B5, which fall into the second category. In Prague Arena, a fourth floor is planned as part of the second price category. In both venues, we will also offer a third price category in the range of CZK 1,000 to 3,000 (approx. 40 to 125 EUR) which will correspond to the highest rows in the arenas," Petr Bříza, President of the Organizing Committee of the Czech Ice Hockey Association for the 2024 IIHF WM, presented the ticket price frameworks.

Draw for priority purchase of tickets

Interest in tickets to the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship held in Czechia is traditionally enormous, as evidenced by the high attendances in 2004 and 2015. The organizers therefore came up with a novelty this year which will offer fans the opportunity to secure tickets in advance, with a draw for the priority right to purchase tickets, which will take place in the autumn. "We were inspired by the Olympic Games, the Rugby World Cup or the last IIHF Ice Hockey Championship in Tampere and Riga. The goal of the draw is to provide the ice hockey audience with an equal opportunity to get tickets. This will apply not only to Czech fans, but also to foreign fans. The winner will be able to buy one to six tickets according to their preference in the first and second price categories. With the draw, we also want to dilute the great interest that we expect at the beginning of the sale," Petr Bříza explains the form of the competition and its goals.

In the first phase, all interested fans will first register on (2024.iihfworlds.com), which will be active from 20 July. Participants can only register once using their email address and phone number. In the second phase, the participants will be invited via email to select up to three preferred teams and respective game days.

In the second half of September, a lottery will take place, on the basis of which the participants will find out whether they have obtained the possibility of priority purchase. "The winners will have a total of five days to buy tickets. We expect to open the priority purchase of tickets in the first half of October. Winners cannot reserve the tickets; they need to be paid after selection using the selected payment method. Of course, it is up to everyone whether and to what extent they would like to benefit from the successful draw. Approximately 20% of the sales capacity of the arena will be allocated to the draw on each game day of the preliminary round. After that, as part of the traditional sale, we will release another wave of tickets. In case that luck does not smile on someone in the competition, they will have the opportunity to purchase tickets also in the subsequent public sale. We would like to present a complete price overview of all types of tickets at the end of the summer, when we will already know the game schedule," explains Petr Bříza.

Official ticket sales will begin after the end of the ticket draw, i.e. in the first half of October. "We believe that this form, which is currently widely used, will also be attractive to our fans. We would like to meet the attendance of 2015. Fans from all over the world associate Prague and Ostrava with packed arenas and an unforgettable atmosphere and, we would like to confirm that next year," concludes Petr Bříza.
