The International Ice Hockey Federation has released the game schedule of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. The Organizing Committee announced the pricing categories for daily tickets.

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has released the game schedule of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship following approval by all teams and stakeholders. "We have created the schedule to offer attractive games to fans every day, not to disadvantage anyone, and to ensure everything proceeds according to sports regulations." comments Jan Černý, General Secretary of the Czech Ice Hockey Association.

Czechia will play their opening game against Finland in Prague Arena on Friday, 10 May at 20:20 local time. Switzerland-Norway will play the first game in the afternoon. The other teams in Group A will start the tournament the following day with the games Great Britain-Canada, Austria-Denmark and Norway-Czechia.

In Ostrava Arena, Slovakia will play Germany in the Group B opening game on Friday, 10 May at 16:20 local time and Sweden will meet the USA in the evening. The next day France-Kazakhstan, Poland-Latvia and USA-Germany will be played at Ostrava Arena. "We hope that Ostrava will be crowded with hockey fans just like in 2015. We are looking forward to having a great atmosphere again." says Aleš Pavlík, President of the Organizing Committee in Ostrava.

The group stages and two quarter-finals will be played at each venue. The semi-finals, the Bronze and Gold Medal Games will take place in the Prague Arena. In case of the promotion from the group stage, the host Czechia will play their quarter-finals on Thursday, May 23, in Prague at 20:20 local time, and the semi-finals on Saturday, May 25, at 14:20 local time.

Game schedule

Tickets for the Czech national team starting at 2,080 CZK, available only in the form of daily packages

The Organizing Committee has divided the tickets into six categories based on the attractiveness of the games. "We thoroughly analyzed ticket prices from the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships over the last 10 years, and in combination with an analysis of cultural and major sports events, we have reached a conclusion. In the final figures, we have also taken into account the current social situation, inflation, and other factors that might influence fan decision-making." outlines Petr Bříza, President of the Organizing Committee in Prague.

The first category daily packages, specifically for Czech and Slovak games, can be purchased starting at 2,080 CZK for the third price category to 4 480 CZK for the first price category. "We are pleased that we managed to stay within the framework of the announced prices, and in fact, the amount for the tickets in the first category is even lower than originally announced," says Petr Bříza.

A daily package for the foreign teams will start at 1,180 CZK for the third price category. "For the other national teams, we aimed to keep favorable prices and motivate Czech and foreign fans to visit Prague and Ostrava. We can state that attending the 2024 IIHF WM is financially acceptable, even compared to recent cultural events," adds Petr Bříza.

Tickets on sale on the official event website as of October 10

The official ticket sales will start on October 10 at 10:00 AM CET. Tickets for all Preliminary Round games and both Ostrava quarter-finals can be purchased on Ticketportal, while tickets for the playoffs in Prague will be available via Ticketmaster. "Anyone hosting an event in the Prague Arena is obligated to sell tickets through two contractual ticket operators. We had to deal with this situation, and after several discussions, we concluded that this will be the clearest and the most advantageous solution for all parties," says Petr Bříza, concluding with: "I hope we have managed to arrange the game plan attractive enough to approach the attendance of 2015. I believe we will once again succeed in hosting a successful IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship."

Family Game Tickets

All tickets will be sold as day packages only, with the only exception of Family Game Tickets, which include the early games at 12:20 local time. Specifically, Saturdays, May 11 and 18 and Tuesday, May 21. They start at a price of 190 CZK.

Most playoff games at the same prices as in 2015

Prices for day packages for quarter-final games start at 3,980 CZK for the third price category. „Tickets for the quarter-finals have only increased by a few hundred korunas compared to the 2015 IIHF WM. Despite the rise in costs, we have decided to maintain the same price for the semi-finals as in 2015, and for the Gold and Bronze Medal Games, fans will actually pay less than at the last IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship organized in Czech Republic," says Petr Bříza.

Registration for the ticket draw is open until September 15, the public sales starts on October 10.

Currently, the first part of the registration phase for the ticket priority purchase draw for all Preliminary Round games is underway. All interested individuals must fill in the form on the website www.2024.iihfworlds.com/tickets. On August 20, the second phase will open for participants to select their preferred teams and specific game days they wish to attend. Those  joining the draw later than that, will complete both phases together. The draw itself will take place from September 18 to September 24, and the winners will have the opportunity to purchase tickets a week before the opening of the public ticket sales, i.e. from October 2 to 4, 2023. Unsold tickets from the competition will be released for the second phase of sales from October 6th to October 8th for all registered participants of the competition.

Ticket sales will be conducted on the official event website 2024.iihfworlds.com.
