Ostrava Arena

The heart of ice hockey in Vítkovice and the centre of many sport and cultural events in the Ostrava region. That is Ostrava Arena, a unique arena built in 1986, and renovated during the turn of 2003 and 2004.

Thanks to its modern equipment, it can serve as a hosting place for the most demanding events. In 2004 and 2015, the arena hosted the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, and so on.

For many years, the arena is the home of HC Vítkovice Ridera, one of the most famous ice hockey clubs in the Czech Republic. Several well-known players played for Vítkovice – Miroslav Fryčer, Frantisek Černík, Roman Šimíček or David Moravec.
