At long last, the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship is set to kick off in Czechia, and it will be a tournament to remember! In our first Power Rankings, the defending champion Canadians— captained by Marie-Philip Poulin, the only player ever to score in four Olympic gold medal games – debut in first place. The Americans – led by Hilary Knight, the all-time Women’s Worlds scoring leader – are a hair’s-breadth behind in second place. And the Finns, featuring veteran aces like Susanna Tapani and Petra Nieminen, start off in third place, hotly pursued by the first-time host Czechs. Who will prevail in the last Women’s Worlds before Milano Cortina 2026? Stay tuned.
