This international event brings together top coaches, experts, and hockey professionals from around the world to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and discuss the latest developments in coaching, player development, and team leadership.

Your symposium ticket provides full access to the event and includes:

Credential Pick-Up

Participants can collect their Symposium Accreditation and Event Materials at the event venue: Hotel Spirgarten, Lindenplatz 5, 8048 Zurich

Pick-up times:
  • Thursday, May 21, 2026 – 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday, May 22, 2026 – starting from 7:00 a.m.
Early credential pick-up is highly recommended to ensure a smooth start on Friday morning.

Speaker Announcement

Steve Norris
Steve Norris is a British Canadian sports scientist and performance consultant. He was Director of Sport Physiology & Strategic Planning at the Canadian Sport Centre Calgary for many years and worked closely with Canadian ice hockey teams, including the National Women's Team Program, for over 15 years.
Norris is considered an expert in athlete development, longterm performance planning, and sports science training methods. His strengths lie in analytical thinking, clear communication, motivating athletes, and the ability to specifically promote teams and individuals. He has also been involved in research projects and the training of young coaches and sports scientists.

 

Tim Hartmann
Tim Hartmann is a Swiss sport psychologist and physical education teacher with extensive experience in athlete development and coach education. He is Deputy Head of the “Foundations” division at Youth+Sport (Jugend+Sport) at the Federal Office of Sport, responsible for developing fundamental training concepts and educational frameworks in Swiss sport. He also lectures in sport psychology and martial arts at the University of Basel. Hartmann’s work focuses on mental performance, long-term athlete development, and applying psychological principles in daily training. Combining academic knowledge with practical experience, he supports coaches and athletes in building resilience, motivation, and performance-oriented learning environments. He is also co-owner of Flying Speakers, delivering keynotes and workshops on mental strength, leadership, and performance culture.

 

Josh Holden
Josh Holden has been head coach of HC Davos for the past two seasons. Before this, he was assistant coach at EV Zug, following a distinguished playing career in Switzerland where he was known as a competitive and defining presence on the ice. Transitioning from player to coach, Holden understands the challenges of starting anew. Drawing on his playing experience,  he brings an analytical perspective to coaching, recognizing both athlete demands and leadership responsibilities. Known for calm, clear communication and strong leadership, he excels in team structure, discipline, and developing young players. At the symposium, he will share insights on leadership, accountability, and creating high-performance environments.


Marco Bayer 
Marco Bayer is head coach of the ZSC Lions. In 2024, he led the team to both the Champions Hockey League title and the Swiss National League championship. His coaching career reflects a structured development path, including head coach of the GCK Lions, youth development, and assistant coaching roles. This experience across all performance levels has shaped his coaching philosophy. Known for clear communication, structured methods, and strong leadership, Bayer excels in developing young players and building sustainable performance environments. Drawing on his broad experience, he understands what it takes to progress step by step to the top level of Swiss professional hockey.

 

Professor René Prêtre 
Professor René Prêtre is a renowned Swiss heart and pediatric heart surgeon. He studied medicine at the University of Geneva and gained experience in the USA before specializing in pediatric cardiac surgery. He has worked for many years in leading cardiac surgery departments in Switzerland and is now Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) and a professor at the University of Lausanne. Prêtre is also recognized for his humanitarian work with the Le Petit Coeur Foundation, supporting children with heart disease worldwide. His expertise combines clinical excellence, teaching, and global outreach in pediatric cardiac care.

 

Jackie Crum 
Jackie Crum is a Canadian ice hockey coach and has been an assistant coach for the Wisconsin Badgers women’s hockey team for many years. She played college hockey for the Badgers and later professionally in Europe, including for DSC Oberthurgau and HC Slavia Praha. Beginning as an undergraduate assistant, she has been a permanent member of the Badgers’ coaching staff since 2009, primarily coaching forwards and helping lead the team to multiple NCAA titles and conference championships. Known for her game knowledge, leadership, and development of young players, she has also served as assistant coach for the Canadian U-18 women’s national team.

 

Ailish Forfar
Ailish Forfar is an Integrity Ambassador with the IIHF, committed to sharing her story of abuse in sport while creating a safer sporting environment for athletes. She is currently a television host and radio analyst for Sportsnet in Toronto. She completed her undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College, where she played NCAA Division 1 hockey for the Big Green. After graduating, she returned home to complete a degree in Sports Media and Broadcasting at Toronto Metropolitan University, playing U SPORTS hockey for the Rams before completing her hockey career playing professionally in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.

 

Jessica Renney
Jessica Renney is the Co-Founder at HONE Athletics, dedicated to building high-performance environments where mental wellness and athletic excellence go hand in hand. Drawing on a childhood immersed in elite sport-including a father with a 13-year NHL coaching career- she brings both personal insight and professional depth to her work with athletes and organizations across all levels of sport. She is a practicing psychotherapist and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. At HONE, she helps organizations move from intention to impact-because she believes performance starts with people.

Scott Ford
Scott Ford brings more than 11 years of coaching experience and most recently served as Assistant Coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL. Prior to that, he spent eight seasons with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL, contributing to multiple division titles and playoff appearances. Known for his expertise in defensive play, penalty killing, and player development, Ford also enjoyed an 11-year professional playing career as a defenseman in the AHL and ECHL before transitioning into coaching.
