Every fan across the world has had the opportunity to help decide what the name of the 2018 IIHF WM mascot should be. Now the votes have been counted and the verdict is in.

SlapDuck, Ugly Duckling, Hero or Duckly? These were the four options for fans to choose between. Every fan who voted also earned a chance to win two VIP tickets for the gold medal game in Royal Arena, Copenhagen, on 20 May 2018.

Duckly was the undisputed winner with almost half of the votes (43 percent). SlapDuck came in as the runner up with a third of the votes (27 percent), while Ugly Puckling ended third (20 percent) and HERO came in last (9 percent).

Another lucky winner of the day was Oskari Juhola from Finland, who won two VIP tickets for the final in Copenhagen.

Duckly, the official mascot of the 2018 IIHF WM, is a young swan (a cygnet) with hero status – a tale inspired by the world famous Danish writer and poet Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale about “The Ugly Duckling”.

Duckly will be a prominent part of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship campaign in both Denmark and abroad. The heroic bird will naturally also play a huge role on and off the ice during the championship from May 4-20, 2018.
