The Official Fan Zone is back again this year to delight hockey fans in Tampere.

Located just outside to Nokia Arena, the Official Fan Zone offers various attractions. This includes watching games on up to four screens, enjoying music from both DJs and live bands, shopping at the Official Merchandise Store or participating in different games and competitions offered by the Official Main Sponsor Skoda as well as further Official Sponsors and Official Partners of the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. Hunger or thirst won't be a problem either, as the area is served by multiple food and drink stands.

Barbara, a Hungarian fan, has been enjoying her time at the Official Fan Zone for the third day in a row with her son. She particularly appreciates the welcoming atmosphere in the area. "Everyone has been very nice and encouraging, regardless of which team they support," Barbara says.

There are lots of activities for children and or young at heart, such as face painting and traditional table hockey. Barbara is delighted that children have been taken into consideration so well. Their favourite activity is the goalkeeper challenge at the Skoda booth, as Barbara's son plays as a goalkeeper back in Hungary. In the challenge, visitors can test their own goalkeeping skills and the best performers are rewarded with Skoda jerseys.

In addition to watching the games, the Fan Zone is an excellent place to spend time between games, as it is only a few minutes' walk from the arena. Friends Heli, Kirsi, and Päivi are at the Official Fan Zone for the first time during this tournament, although they are familiar with the place from last year. They say they came to enjoy the atmosphere before the game they are about to watch live in Nokia Arena. They describe the atmosphere as increasingly exciting as the thrilling game approaches.

Janika and Timo, along with their children Jooa and Leo, have travelled to Tampere to watch the day's games. They stumbled upon the Official Fan Zone by chance while following the crowd leaving the arena after a game. They also praise the Official Fan Zone for offering something for everyone. They have been strolling around and taking photos. There is plenty to admire, as the tournament's official mascot, Spiky, has arrived at the area and is immediately surrounded by numerous admirers.

As the evening thriller approaches, more hockey fans dressed in their best fan gear arrive at the area. And fans can also get specific 2023 IIHF WM souvenirs as well as team related merchandise at the megastore. The Official Fan Zone has once again been popular among fans this year, as it saw a record-breaking attendance of 12,141 visitors on Saturday, 13 May.
