Next year it is time for the playoffs of the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship to return to Stockholm and the Globe Arena. Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals will be hung on the world stars and this time it is the Swedish people who will have the opportunity to decide what the medals will look like.

A completely unique opportunity now exists to be the one who gets to design the medals for the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. In a competition announced by the organization behind the event, everyone has the opportunity to participate, and the winner of the competition will thus forever have a place in hockey history.

–       “We aim for a hockey party with sold-out stands and for world-class hockey to engage millions of Swedes. And this time you have the chance to design the medals awarded in the Globe Arena on 25 May 2025”, says Tony Wiréhn, Secretary General of the 2025 IIHF WM.

In May 2025, it will be finally time to kick off the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Sweden and Denmark. One group’s games and two quarter-finals will be played in Herning, Denmark, while the second group’s games, two quarter-finals, the semi-finals, bronze medal game, and final will take place in Stockholm, Sweden.

–       “Experiencing the feeling of receiving a gold medal in front of packed stands, also during an IIHF WM on home ground, is something that all hockey players - and coaches - dream of. Both as a hockey player and now as national team coach, I have always felt the joy and support of the Swedish people and this is incredibly important to me. That everyone now has a chance to design the medals is a fun way to connect hockey with the great commitment and passion that exist in Sweden and Denmark”, says Sam Hallam, coach for Tre Kronor and part of the jury.

The competition closes on May 31st, 2024, and a winner will then be presented and awarded - in addition to a place in the history books - with a prize sum of SEK 25,000 (subject to local tax).
