The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has updated tournament dates of events from the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship program following team withdrawals and released a new game schedule for the upcoming 2022 IIHF Continental Cup Final.

Following Monday’s IIHF Council decision to suspend teams from Russia and Belarus from participation, the IIHF has agreed with the remaining teams on a three-team format and schedule in accordance with the 2022 IIHF Sport Regulations for the 2022 IIHF Continental Cup Final in Aalborg, Denmark.

The tournament will be played as follows:
  • Friday, 4 March 2022 19:00 Cracovia Krakow (POL) vs. Saryarka Karaganda (KAZ)

  • Sunday, 6 March 2022 19:00 Saryarka Karaganda (KAZ) vs. Aalborg Pirates (DEN)
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and travel restriction, several countries had to withdraw their teams from events this spring. In addition to the previous announcement, China has withdrawn its men’s U18 national team.

The events in the men’s U20 and women’s U18 category that were cancelled in December and January will be played later this year with the same age categories as during the winter of 2021/2022. Teams that were previously withdrawn for the original dates (China, Australia, New Zealand) will have the right to participate.

The 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship will be played in the province of Alberta in August 2022. The exact dates and venues are being discussed with the organizer and participating teams. The tournament will be restarted from the beginning and games played in December will not count.

Also the Division II Group B in Belgrade, Serbia and the Division III in Queretaro, Mexico of the men’s U20 category will be played later this year. The exact dates will be known later and be visible in the Tournament List.

The 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship will be moved to the United States and be played in June. The exact dates and venues are being discussed with the organizer and participating teams and will be announced once they have been confirmed with all stakeholders.

In the same category new dates have been confirmed for two tournaments:
