Hungary won the brotherly cross-border clash with Romania 4-2 on the last day at the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A.

With a 5-1 victory against neighbouring rival Hungary host Slovenia won the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A on home ice in Ljubljana two days before the end of the tournament and earns promotion to the top-level 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.

Hungary got its second win in its second game but had to battle hard until the end to beat Lithuania 2-1.

In an early key game in the decision for promotion Hungary beat Korea 5-1 to open the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A in Ljubljana.
