Schiller passes away

Former German national team player Peter Schiller passed away at the age of 62. The forward died of a heart failure in Berlin this week according to media reports.

In his hometown of Selb Schiller started playing ice hockey and football at the two local clubs but decided to focus on ice hockey and moved to Cologne to play in the top Germany league where he won four national titles. Towards the end of his career he also played for Mannheim and Berlin.

Schiller represented West Germany and later unified Germany in 94 international games including the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, four World Championships and the 1984 Canada Cup.
