As the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing is approaching, general public’s interest in various ice sports, in particular the sport of ice hockey, is increasing throughout China. In order to nurture growth of ice hockey in China and Asia and to promote the Beijing Winter Olympics, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) is joining hand with the Chinese Ice Hockey Association (CIHA) for the third time in a row in hosting the 2019 IIHF/CIHA Asian Men’s Summer Camp from 5th to 11th August in Beijing, China, with the slogan of ‘Same Goal, Same Dream’.

Apart from local participants, male players aged 13-18 and coaches from 11 other IIHF Member National Associations in Asia are participating in this Summer Camp, including Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Macau (China), Mongolia, Qatar, Singapore and Thailand, making a total of more than 110 camp participants. The participants are carefully selected by their respective MNAs and clubs, and it is expected that participants will bring home the learning, experience and friendship gained in the camp to contribute to the development of hockey in their home grounds. 

A total of five experienced instructors are assigned by the IIHF to share their expertise and insight with the participants. The development programs in combination of classroom and on-ice sessions, include the followings:
  • Team Coach Development
  • Goalkeeper Coach Development
  • Equipment Manager Development
  • Player Development (Player and Goaltenders) 
  • Development Program in Strength & Conditioning
 
The IIHF/CIHA Asian Men’s Summer Camp is aiming to provide a professional and high-quality ice hockey summer camp for junior players in Asia. It is also a great opportunity to boost the ice hockey industry and promote better understanding and solidarity among the Asian countries.  

To attract more young people to ice hockey, the Chinese Ice Hockey Association is organizing a series of summer camps in 31 ice rinks located in 26 cities and 21 provinces of China at the same period of time, benefitting more than 2,000 local young players.
