The tournament will be hosted in the capital city of Sofia with the teams from Ukraine, Belgium, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Hong Kong (China) from 4 to 10 April 2022. It will be the first time after four years that a World Championship event in the women’s senior category will return to Bulgaria.
A record number of 44 countries have been entered in the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship program, which leads to the creation of a Division III Group B tournament with Estonia, which returns after a 14-year break, and first-time participants Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia and Israel.
