The hosting right of the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division III Group A has been allocated to Bulgaria following a virtual meeting with the applicants and the participating countries.

The tournament will be hosted in the capital city of Sofia with the teams from Ukraine, Belgium, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Hong Kong (China) from 4 to 10 April 2022. It will be the first time after four years that a World Championship event in the women’s senior category will return to Bulgaria.

A record number of 44 countries have been entered in the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship program, which leads to the creation of a Division III Group B tournament with Estonia, which returns after a 14-year break, and first-time participants Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia and Israel. The host country will be determined soon.
